President’s Message
“Seeking to provide the same advantages to other children that we desire for our own.” This noble objective inspired twenty-one women in 1938 to organize what has become one of the most preeminent and influential mother-driven organizations to date. In 1975 women in the Missouri City, Fort Bend County area recognized the value to our children and community in chartering a chapter for the area. These mothers put their vision into action and laid the footprints for the Missouri City-Sugar Land Chapter. And so began our esteemed history! In 2022, after a year of pandemic pause, we celebrated our 45th Chapter Anniversary with current chapter mothers, Associates, Past Presidents, and Past Regional Officers representing Missouri City-Sugar Land. It is both my honor and my privilege to lead 91 passionate and dynamic professional women, all mothers, as we collectively strive to follow and fulfill the vision of our Founder Marian Stubbs Thomas and MCSL charter members. Since 2019 our chapter theme has been BE3: BOLD in Purpose. BOLD in Service. BOLD in Action. Our goal is to boldly infuse purpose into the activities and events we host for our children and the community. We are committed to generously sharing our time, talents, and resources to impact all children more meaningfully within our community. Much like the world, the global pandemic had a profound impact on our organization. We allowed Jack and Jill to remain a constant in our children’s lives and continued activities and community engagement with creativity and enthusiasm. Our flagship fundraiser, our biennial Beautillion Ball, spotlights the achievements of local area outstanding African American young men as they are introduced to society, and simultaneously raises funds to support deserving charitable organizations. We proudly embrace our dads through our Fathers’ Auxiliary and tenured mothers as our Associate Pearls. Both auxiliary arms enthusiastically support the chapter’s work—they make us better! We are proudest of our THREE-peat national honor in July 2022 as a Five Star Chapter of Excellence! We received this distinction for organizational and operational excellence. We bask in sharing our rich chapter history, our love for our families, and the pride of our service and philanthropy. On behalf of our Executive Board and Mother Members, Fathers’ Auxiliary, Associates, and our children we thank you for your interest and warmly bring you greetings!
