President’s Message
“Seeking to provide the same advantages to other children that we desire for our own.” This noble objective inspired twenty-one women in 1938 to organize what has become one of the most preeminent and influential mother driven organizations to date. In 1975 women in the Missouri City, Fort Bend County area recognized the value to our children and community in chartering a chapter for our area. They put their vision into action and laid the footprints for the Missouri City-Sugar Land Chapter. It is both my honor and my privilege to lead 89 passionate and dynamic professional women, all mothers, as we collectively strive to follow and fulfill the vision of our national and local charter founders. Our 2019-2021 chapter theme is BE3: BOLD in Purpose. BOLD in Service. BOLD in Action. Our goal is to BOLDLY infuse purpose into the activities and events we plan and host for our children and the community. We are committed to BOLD service by generously sharing our time, talents, and resources to more meaningfully impact all children within our community. And, we pledge nothing less than BOLDNESS in the execution of our actions! The Missouri City-Sugar Land Chapter has a rich history of philanthropic efforts through our national collaborations with American Red Cross, Children’s Defense Fund, March of Dimes and NAMI. Our efforts on the local level are equally energetic as we spotlight outstanding African American young men through our biennial Beautillion Ball and enthusiastically raise funds to support deserving community organizations. Along with our Fathers’ Auxiliary our adoption and support of a local middle school and elementary school exemplifies our commitment to serving all children, but particularly those in underserviced communities. Even our teens and children are challenged to engage in active community service and embrace a spirit of philanthropic giving! They too, will BOLDLY BE3! Take a few minutes to peruse our website. We bask in sharing with you our rich cultural history, our love for our families, and the pride in our spirit of service. On behalf of our Executive Board, Mother Members, Fathers’ Auxiliary, Associates and our children we warmly bring you greetings! For all children, Tyra Jones McCollum 22nd President, Missouri City-Sugar Land Chapter Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated |
